We are heading into summer and Puget Sound has become a bright sunny place with the forecast showing nothing but sun for the next week, perfect for whale watching! Today’s post features our May 11 tour where we saw two matrilines of killer whales, T124A2 & T124A4s, and two bulls that are crowd favorites here, T63 ‘Chainsaw’ & T87 ‘Harbeson’. T63 is 45 years old and T87 is estimated to be 61, one of the oldest male killer whales we know. After viewing the killer whales we found 3 gray whales socializing and giving us spyhop after spyhop. Gray whales are often solitary animals so it is always an exciting day when we see many together socializing and giving us so much surface activity. Naturalist/Photographer Kyla Bivens
