Group Tours

Charter your own fun with a group tour. Whale watching, bird watching, sunset cruises, and waterfront cruises across Port Townsend are just a few of the many activities we offer.

Groups can either book a portion of seats on our regularly scheduled trip and receive discounts based on the number of passengers in the group. This is refered to as a, 'partial group charter.' Groups can also book the entire vessel allowing for a more diverse trip. These trips are based on vessel time and are called 'full boat charters.' Groups that book a 'full boat charter,' have the option of planning the trip from start to finish; including the departure time, where you want to go, and what you want to eat. Sunset Dinner Tour
Following is just an example of what a custom tour can be like with P.S. Express. Imagine an evening dinner charter aboard the Glacier Spirit. The trip departs Port Townsend in the late afternoon and travels thirty minuts to a wonderful spot known as Protection island. Once there we drop anchor and enjoy the evening; with wonderful food and breath taking scenery. On the way home guests enjoy desert while dusk settles over the Olympic Mountains. For over twenty years we have taken groups such as; businesses on retreat, wedding parties, Audubon clubs, church groups, etc., all have come away with great memories of their experience at Protection Island. An example of a dinner charter, priced out at three hours for the boat time and 40 passengers for dinner, would cost $2,350. This would include the vessel at $450 per hour and the dinner at $25 per person. The dinner menu is typically a Salmon entrée with; potatoes, Caesar salad and desert. The menu can be altered to suit a special diet. Beer and wine is available.

Education Trips
P. S. Express offers several different programs for education related trips. To qualify for an education discount rate, your group must be affiliated with a public or private school and your trip must occur in any month other than July and August. Like the group charter these trips can either ba a 'partial group charter' or a 'full boat charter'. A great example of a 'full boat charter/education trip,' was last summer. We took a group of kids, who were on a biology field trip, to an island which is a state park; studied plants and animals, enjoyed lunch and then let them have the run of the whole island. It was a blast.

Additional options for these education trips include road tours of San Juan Island and narrated docent tours of the Whale Museum in Friday Harbor. Sack lunches are also available. Prices and availability, can all be arranged by our friendly office staff.
